AGEA - Alberta Geothermal Energy Association

About the AGEA

What is Geothermal Technology?

Ground source heat pumps (GSHPs) are electrically powered mechanical systems using refrigeration compressors, heat exchangers and circulating pumps, to capture and transport energy from almost any heat source to almost any heat sink. These systems use that captured heat energy to provide heating, cooling, and hot water for homes and commercial buildings. GSHP equipment can also be used to capture and reuse energy from industrial processes, sewage, ice arenas, and many other non-traditional and marginal sources of heat energy. Learn More>>

The Alberta Geothermal Energy Association (AGEA) is a member driven association of individuals and companies involved in the design, supply, and installation of ground sourced and water sourced heat pump technology.

Founded in 2007, the AGEA is working towards developing reputable standards in Alberta and providing a neutral and informed voice for all facets of the geothermal industry. It is through leadership, regulation, professionalism and community involvement that we will build relationships and reach a sustainable and unified industry.

Our Mission

Our mission is to prepare our communities for a future free of dependence on non-renewable energy sources by advancing the deployment of earth energy, geothermal heat pump technology throughout Alberta.

We are committed to public awareness, quality technical training, sound installation standards, and overall excellence in achieving the most efficient, reliable, and long lasting renewable energy installations possible.
