  • The new Tranquility 27 high temperature water-to-water heat pump available through Climate Master dealers provides unlimited applications for hydronic heating systems because of its high temperature output (140° F), internal controls, and factory-installed options. The specially designed high temperature scroll compressor and heat exchangers create an unmatched efficiency and performance for water heating.

  • The refrigerant used in the heat pump and in direct exchange loops was, until recently, chlorodifluoromethane, an ozone depleting substance. R-410A is the environmentally friendly refrigerant introduced to replace ozone-depleting refrigerants such as R-22. After the 2009 year, the use of R-410A will be mandatory, becoming the standard across Canada’s geothermal industry.

  • Continuously variable compressors will eventually be the industry standard, though already popular in European countries. A variable compressor can run more efficiently in environments where demand may vary from season-to-season. During periods of low demand, the compressor will reduce the compressed air output by reducing the drive speed. This reduction in drive speed saves power, trims operating costs and improves the bottom line. (Wikipedia

  • Electronically Commutated Motor (ECM) fans and pumps will eventually be completely assimilated into industry standards. The ECM is a high efficiency programmable brushless DC motor that uses a permanent magnet rotor and a built-in inverter. DC motors are far more energy efficient than AC motors, which have been known to have fans operating at less than full loads, dropping efficiency dramatically when turned down. In contrast, an ECM motor will maintain high efficiency at all speeds. (http://www.nailor.com/pdf/ECM_1.pdf)
