AGEA - Alberta Geothermal Energy Association

Strategies

The Alberta Geothermal Energy Association has incorporated marketing strategies with a focus on government and industry awareness.  It has become clear that the lack of knowledge regarding geothermal technology exists at the municipal level.  Assimilation at this level is crucial to the success of the industry in providing a sustainable alternative.  Individual consumers are the ones with the most awareness, knowledge and understanding, as it is a technology that can affect their daily comfort, cost-savings and environmental impact.

The main goal of all AGEA marketing strategies is to educate and increase communication via various media and means. Some examples of AGEA efforts include the following:

  • Contributing to the successful implementation of the ecoEnergy EnerGuide program for homes
  • Influencing the removal of the natural gas subsidy, so as not to subsidize inefficiency
  • Aiding in the creation of the Geothermal 101 course at NAIT
  • Providing a common ground and voice through interactive resources such as the AGEA website and newsletter, monthly board meetings and attending public events
  • Promotion of National Standard CSA448
